And to add :
I used to be addicted to Encyclopedia Brown mini mysteries when I was in the 3rd and 4th grade. Do any of you remember that series?

Back in the days I used to check out Hardy Boys mysteries from the library. I remember during one summer vacation I had read most of the series. In fact, once during 5th or 6th grade I actually read three books in a single day.

Yes, still go and active in a sense of being regular at meetings, commenting and parts.
Why do I go?
1) Family
2) Because there are some who can be taught what the WTS is really all about, if at all with a subtle touch without raising alarm bells. If I'm still in, I can provide some sort of solace or comfort with my brothers/sisters who are in anguish or depressed about how they feel unknowingly or not about their faith in terms of how the WTS dictates it. The downtrodden are whom I feel the need to be there for.
The "textbook" brothers/sisters I usually avoid. They aren't of any comfort at all. Just works and outer appearances. No depth or substance nor anything substantial that they provide except the parroted/canned lines that they are indoctrinated with.

howdy folks.
had a chat the other day with an elder who lnows jws all over the world and he was telling me that in a u.s. cong a sister has just decided she is one of the 144000 - she is 41 years old.
in the same cong a brother aged 55 has recently decided he is one of the immortals as well.. they both claim that the holy spirit has bore witness to them.. what do you think such ones are actually feeling?
I know of a sister in my former congregation who started partaking several years ago when she was about 40 years old. She is a die hard avid Bible reader and pioneer. All her conversations wherever she is at always ties in to the Bible. She is rather nice and pleasant. Still single though and moved to a foreign language congregation recently.
I wouldn't say that she fits into the typical JW mold per se, as she often gets into debate discussions about the scriptures with the elders and she often writes to the Society about scriptural matters. What develops from them, who knows? The elders pretty much stay clear from her. Perhaps of her extensive Bible, Greek and Hebrew abilities. She is quite independant, but respected at the same time. Personally, I liked her ways.
Nobody really started murmuring when she did start to partake. It was kind of a given when she did.
Holy spirit bears witness? I suppose so.

for those of you attending kingdom hell meetings, let us know how this.
(yawn) exciting change goes over.
let us know how many speakers went .
At our hall the public talk was 30 minutes.
Funny thing though, once the speaker concluded, it seemed like half the congregation turned and looked at the clock posted on the wall. They were all surprised that the talk was over so quickly. Quirky, surprised looks on their faces. Even confused. Some whispered to me, "That was quick. Look what time it is."
I laughed.
Yes, they forgot the 30 minute talks started from this year.

In my congregation, the service overseer requested the magazine servant to order 20 extra copies to have on hand.
I was informed that these study edition magazines would be available for all visitors (i.e. unbelieving spouses) and Bible studies who elect to attend the meetings. This will also include children who are capable of comprehending the material even though they aren't unbaptized publishers yet.

so, the elder that dfed me, was driving by my house with a carload of sheep yesterday.
as he was driving by, he pointed at my house.
what he didnt know, was that my bf was also on the road, waiting for him to pass so he could pull in the driveway.. when the elder looked up, and recognized my bf, he dropped his hand really fast, but knew he was caught.. so, now i sit and wonder, what the hell was he saying to the herd?
He probably said, "Don't go to that house while out in the ministry. Only us elders can follow up on the occupants there".

looks like we here in the good ole us of a may be paying $3.50/ gallon when spring hits next year, if this trend continues.
china's predominantly state-owned oil company surpassed exxon today in market value, and they are currently drilling not far off the coast of florida(by way of cuba).
The pioneers in my congregation are feeling the "crunch" of rising fuel costs. I believe even more so in my congregation as it is covering a foreign language territory and it really isn't house-to-house work in terms of walking. It is more like driving from one neighborhood to find a house and then to another as our territory encompasses the entire district. Households are literally scattered.
This will certainly have an effect on these so-called "full-time" servants. These full-time servants will eventually need to get full-time jobs!

chill a big glass or mug in the freezer.
drop in two scoops of good vanilla ice cream and pour in a well chilled, quality brand of root beer and fill to the top.
drop in a straw and grab an ice teaspoon and escape for a few minutes into pure sensory pleasure.
Simon says: I think it's because in the UK the ingredients were used in medicine or dissinfectant or something so Root Beer just seems to be 'essence of hospital'.
Right. My friend from Britian said the same when he first tried it. He told me, "What's the big deal about it?". It is, I suppose, an acquired taste for those not exposed to that flavor in the form of a soda.
